Nicotine levels higher than previously thought

According to a report issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public health, smokers may be getting more nicotine than previously thought and those who use light or ultra-light cigarettes may not be getting the protection they think they're getting since even light cigarettes contain high levels of nicotine.

As the report states, there's no significant amount of difference between the amount of nicotine inhaled from light or regular cigarettes and about half of cigarette brands labeled as light, medium, mild, or ultra-light have high nicotine levels. Practically all brands contain enough nicotine to ensure continued nicotine dependence.
