The IRS and the collection of taxes
In typical fashion, the government has allowed private industry to drink at the public trough again. This time, the IRS is being allowed to outsource collection for owed taxes. Collection agencies, for a hefty chunk of the pie (they get to keep 24% of what they recover), will be provided information on over 12,000 U.S. taxpayers who owe less than 25,000 to the federal government and who have not disputed the debt.
Over and over again, we see how compassionate this government is. Keep in mind that a substantial amount of bankruptcy protection has been made not available to the public, despite the fact that most bankruptcies arise from medical emergencies.
