An annual osteoporosis shot

This is something that might be worth passing on, particularly if you have older family members.

A new experimental drug, zoledronic acid (trademark name: reclast), may be able to reduce the risk of spine fractures by seventy percent. It may also reduce the risk of hip fractures by forty percent. The drug would be given once a year and would do away with the need for daily pills.

Factoids: Ten million Americans have osteoporsis and over thirty million have low bone density.
